Americorps

The Americorps is the largest initiative of the Corporation for National Service (the Corporation), a public corporation established by the National Service Trust Act of 1993. The Corporation’s mission is to provide opportunities for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to engage in service that addresses the nation’s unmet needs in education, public safety, the environment, and other areas.

Americorps volunteers work with the Arab American CDC to aid Arab communities in Philadelphia with mentoring programs, enhancing education, the food bank, etc. Ameircorp volunteers are a valuable asset to the PAACDC; through their continuous efforts and had work, the Americorp have contributed tremendously to the community.

Arab-American Resource Corps.

The Arab-American Resource Corps, a national AmeriCorps program of the National Network for Arab-American Communities, provides individuals with an opportunity to serve the Arab-American community through direct service in community-based organizations.  While ARC AmeriCorps members often seem like another staff member, they are more than staff, with little compensation, they commit one year of their life, and possibly more, to serving their community.  Because ARC AmeriCorps members are only compensated with a small living allowance, their commitment to service must be compensated in other ways.  In addition to the living allowance and education award, the benefits of serving in ARC include professional development, leadership development, mentorship and other ongoing trainings from the site in which they serve.

The PAACDC seeks to work with ARC members through the Americorps program to help with the various services it offers.
